India

India is a country located in southern Asia. It has 29 states, so there are a lot of places you can go to in India. But today, I will suggest 2 places you can visit in India;
  • New Delhi
  • Dehra Dun 

New Delhi is located in Delhi

New Delhi

New Delhi is the capital of India. I have lived here for most of my life and I can tell that it is a city of adventure. You can find all kinds of food and festivals here.


Festivals

Below are 2 of the most famous festivals that we celebrate in New Delhi 

Diwali

Diwali is the festival of light. It is celebrated all over India. Diwali represents the return of King Rama, incarnation of God Vishnu, to Ayodhya after exile of 14 years. The people of Ayodhya lit up diyas to show their happiness and joy on return of their King Rama. This festival is celebrated by lighting up diyas, candles, fireworks and sharing sweets. 







Holi

Image result for holiHoli is the festival of colors. Holi represents the winning of good over evil. It is celebrated by throwing colors at each other and spraying water. We dance and sing a lot since this festival is very colorful and happy. 

Food

There are many varieties of food in New Delhi but I will tell you about the most typical dishes of New Delhi. 

Chole Bhature 

Image result for chole bhatureChole bhature (cho-ley bha-too-re) is a famous dish found all over India. It is a combination of spicy chickpeas (chole) and fried bread (bhature) made from soft wheat. You can also add cut onion to the chole if you like and squeeze lemon in it.

Paratha

Paratha (Pa-raa-tha) is the number one typical dish of New Delhi. It is a flatbread made from wheat or flour. You can add butter and also eat it with achaar (pickle).  







Dehra Dun

Dehradun is located in Uttarakhand
Dehra Dun's map
Dehra Dun is the capital of Uttrakhand state. It is located on the Northern part of India at a distance of 250 km from New Delhi. 






Festivals

Let us look at Dehra Dun's most popular festival.

Vasant Panchami

This festival is a Hindu spring festival. We celebrate it at the beginning of a new spring. We celebrate it by praising the Goddess Saraswati, the Hindu deity of learning, arts and music by going to her temples.

This is also the festival of God Kama, the Hindu deity of love and people wear yellow clothes to show their appreciation for the mustard fields.






Dance

Kathak

Kathak is an Indian dance originated from the North of India. Kathak meaning 'to tell a tale' in the form of a dance. It is a popular dance and people from all over the world are learning it.










Food

Chicken Biryani

A typical Indian food which is the mixture of chicken and rice. You can add chopped onions, yogurt or some chutney with it.

Samosa

Image result for samosaA tasty snack for parties or even a normal day. This dish has potatoes, vegetables and sometimes nuts stuffed inside the fried bread. You can enjoy samosas with green or red chutney and ketchup.
